Entry #1 The Beginning

I admit it. I am a compulsive integrator. What does that mean? I am constantly imagining ways to connect the disciplines of math, botany, biology, geology, music, dance, language arts, and anything else my students are learning. For some unknown reason I am not content to be solely teaching music and dance. Have I strayed too far from the path of an Orff teacher? WHAT’S HAPPENING TO ME?!

Adventures of the new NCAOSA Instrumentarium

Last year our chapter purchased a new set of Orff instruments to add to our NCAOSA instrumentarium.  Thanks to instrument chair Lisa Roberts, these sets were immediately put to use in schools in the Bay Area, with great results. President’s Message 2018

This summer, nearly two decades after my first Orff training, I had the pleasure of revisiting my roots by taking Janet Greene’s Intro Course at The San Francisco School. I enrolled to support two colleagues with no previous Orff training, with a goal of collaborating and reflecting with them this year. I also hoped that the course would reinvigorate my Orff teaching and refresh my spirit.
